This catalog of 3,260 entries represents The Museum of Modern Art’s holdings of paintings and sculpture, with selected works on paper, through December 21, 1987. The first four editions of a catalog of the whole collection, Painting and Sculpture in The Museum of Modern Art, were prepared by the Museum’s first director, Alfred H. Barr, Jr., in 1942, 1948, 1956, and 1967. The fifth edition covers 1967 through 1977, and this present edition brings the catalog through 1987. The catalog is arranged alphabetically by artist and chronologically for the works of each artist. 144 pp. Please note that this book is not illustrated.
