Hug Salt and Pepper Shakers

The Hug Salt and Pepper Shakers are two identically formed porcelain characters that appear to embrace when nestled together. The shakers’ colors identify contents, one black for pepper, and one white for salt. Examples of salt and pepper shakers from the modern era are included in the Museum’s collection and were included in the Museum’s past Useful Objects exhibitions. Each shaker has three holes for dispensing, which also represent the character’s face.
