Faith Ringgold “Windows of the Wedding #1, Woman” Basketball

MoMA Exclusive: The joyful, vibrant pattern on this special-edition basketball is inspired by Windows of the Wedding #1, Woman (1974), a work by artist and activist Faith Ringgold who is represented in MoMA’s collection. This Faith Ringgold Basketball is designed and produced by the creative collective Kindred Studio in partnership with Common Practice, whose work focuses on the intersection of contemporary art and the culture of basketball. In 2021, Common Practice collaborated with Ringgold and nonprofit organization Project Backboard in recreating Windows of the Wedding #1, Woman as a large-scale site-specific mural installation on a basketball court located at St. Nicholas Park in Harlem, New York, where Ringgold was born with the goal of bringing awareness to the life and career of Faith Ringgold.  The Faith Ringgold Basketball featuring Windows of the Wedding #1, Woman is a standard size 7 and measures 29.5”circumference when inflated. The ball arrives half deflated and can be inflated with a bicycle or tire pump (not included).
