Made for backyard gatherings and adventurous outings, the HAY Outdoor Market by Jasper Morrison Shop combines functional design with the nostalgic utility of classic camping gear. Crafted from stainless steel, this wide Firepit can be used as both a BBQ or as a mood-setting, outdoor fireplace. Composed of three parts—the firepit, a removable charcoal basket and a removable grill—the Firepit’s top has ample room for cooking up an array of food for meals at campsites or in your backyard. Grill burgers, steaks, chicken and veggies and use the collection’s Fish Grill (sold separately) to cook up a whole fish. You can also cook kebabs with the collection’s BBQ Skewers (sold separately). The Firepit measures 12h x 24″diam. and weighs 3.6 lbs. Both the designer Jasper Morrison and the manufacturer HAY are represented in MoMA’s collection.

Instructions for use and safety precautions:
When using as a Firepit:
- Stack fully dried firewood at the bottom of the firepit before adding your tinder and kindling.
- Use a long match or lighter to ignite the tinder and kindling and wait for the wood to catch fire.
When using as a BBQ:
- Place the removable charcoal basket in the firepit, make sure the basket locator is in the designated slot. Build a pyramid of charcoal, max. 1.76 lbs, in the basket and insert a couple of lighter cubes* within the pyramid. (*not included).
- Use a long match or lighter to ignite the lighter cubes and charcoal.
- Do not cook before the charcoal has a coating of ash.
- Place the grill on the firepit.
- Preheat the grill for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. It is recommended the barbecue shall be heated up and the fuel kept red hot for at least 30 min prior to the first cooking.
- Make sure the grill is clean before placing any food on it.
The product can be cleaned with a soft damp cloth when cooled down, follow up with thorough drying. Do not use sharp objects or abrasive cleaners or alcohol to clean the surfaces of your firepit. Advised to store indoors. Brush the carbonized grease from the grill with a stainless steel bristle grill brush. Do not use if any components break or wear out. Stainless steel will naturally discolour with high heat.
Do not use indoors. Do not use in an enclosed area. This firepit is designed for outdoor use in a well-ventilated area only and should never be used as an indoor heater. WARNING! Do not use spirit or gasoline for lighting or re-lighting! Suitable to use as a firepit or a barbecue. Keep the cooking area clear of flammable vapour and liquids, such as petrol, alcohol, etc., and combustible material. Keep the firepit on a secure, level surface at all times. Grill is food-contact safe. Exercise caution when operating your firepit. Do not leave it unattended. WARNING! This barbecue will become very hot, do not move it during operation. Use heat-resistant mitts or gloves while cooking, adding charcoal and handling the grill.Â
WARNING! Keep children and pets away. Never dump ashes or charcoal before they are fully extinguished. Do not store the firepit until ashes and charcoal are fully extinguished.
